The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act (part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009) requires a host of changes, expansions, and guidance activities with respect to HIPAA privacy and security provisions in the areas of breach notification, business associates, and enforcement, among others. The conference will review the HHS regulatory and guidance activities to date to implement these provisions, as well as what is planned for 2010. The session will include a discussion of compliance priorities and next steps for group health plans and business associates.
